What is coaching?


Are you are prepared to be the creator of your life, not the victim of it?
Everyone’s feeling it. Time is rushing by and before we know it it’s Sunday night again. You feel like your existence is a constant treadmill of, get up, work, sleep, get up, work, sleep. Where will it end? The media is full of it; we’re disillusioned and want more than the rat race has to offer. Time after time people try to fix the problems in their lives by searching for pleasures or solutions outside of themselves, yet the real answers lie within. The answers are there, you just need to know where to find them!
 

So what does a coach do?
 It’s no wonder life coaching is a growing phenomenon, you hear about it on the TV, read about it in the press. People are waking up and are desperately trying to find that missing link in their lives. A life coach is someone who will help you get from where you are now to where you really want to be. The first thing you do with a good coach is set big juicy life changing goals, goals that will have a huge impact on your life. Once the goals have been established you work with your coach to create a solid plan of action and then start making small baby steps towards your desired outcome weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
 
A coach is trained to listen on a completely different level than a typical conversation you may have with family, friends or colleagues. A coach is entirely impartial and will ask powerful questions that take you below your surface thinking so that you can draw on resources you never knew existed within you. A coach will also use constant feedback to encourage and support you on your journey to a better life. It’s like having your very own cheerleader, keeping you motivated, giving you undivided attention, trust and commitment so that you can develop your ability to achieve your desired goal. Remember coaching is no quick fix, it’s like a life diet, it’s a commitment to find a new and better way to live. Who knows where it will take you!
 

Coaching is also an inward journey
 Coaching isn’t just about goal setting and giving people a kick up the bum, it’s also a wonderful inward journey where people often for the first time in their life really get to know themselves. My unique coaching programme helps people to understand their values and talents and shows them how to build a life around their blueprint. My programme also helps people to recognize their own self-sabotaging behaviour, limiting beliefs and habits and gives practical hands on techniques of how to ‘re-wire’ the mind for success.

 
Where does coaching originate?
 Life coaching draws its foundations from a few key professions such as mentoring, counselling and sports coaching, but the main grounding comes from the study of Neuroscience and how the brain works.
 
We spend our whole life creating neuro-pathways in the brain which help us develop habitual patterns like how to walk, ride a bike, read, write etc, most of which have served and continue to serve us well. But there are neuro-pathways we’ve created that do not serve us and therefore stop us from living to our true potential. If you have created a pathway believing that you're unattractive or that you never have any money, this belief gets hardwired into the brain therefore influencing the outcome of your day-to-day reality. The brain looks for events that reinforce your beliefs and dismisses things that may contradict them. Quite amazing stuff! Coaching has developed from recognising this fact and can help reprogramme your mind for lasting success, in many ways our brain is like an incredible bio-computer; all we need to do is change our software and watch the magic unfold.
